Vita
T.Y. Branch investigates values in science and their implications on science education and science communication. Though trained in the philosophy of science, she also has research interests in social epistemology (examining social indicators of trustworthiness) and in epistemology (reflecting on what makes scientific testimony special). Her work is informed by applied philosophical work using socio-technical integration methods and her experience outside of academia in museums and science centres.
Contribution to SOCRATES
As the only permanent research member of SOCRATES, T.Y. Branch provides continuity to the research activities across fellows, activities, and projects. Dr. Branch synthesises the Centre’s highly diverse and interdisciplinary research activities through her own interdisciplinary work between philosophy of science, social epistemology, epistemology, and science communication. While with the Centre, she will also develop her own research projects drawing on emerging interests in artificial intelligence and climate change.
