Enabling Diverse Knowledges

*The event is by invitation only*

This one-day workshop, the first of two workshops on ‘Enabling Diverse Knowledges’[1], will bring international scholars and practitioners together to explore knowledge-making within and across different communities. One important discussion will be the way different knowledges can be woven together well. Another important discussion will focus on identifying the barriers to further enabling this ongoing work.

The day begins with sessions aimed at generating insights from local knowledge-making practices as they feature within and between diverse communities, and what effective engagement across diverse knowledges requires. The day also includes a panel facilitated by the International Science Council-Committee for Freedom and Responsibility in Science reflecting on the conceptual learnings to be gained from knowledge-making and knowledge-combining practices from around the world for freedom and responsibility in science. The day ends with a final panel composed of members of SOCRATES on several opportunities and challenges to navigating freedom and responsibility in Science.

This event is supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation, DFG) – Project 470816212/KFG43, the International Science Council, the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau, and the Royal Society of New Zealand Te Apārangi.

[1] The next workshop will be held in Aotearoa New Zealand early 2025.
