Vita

Craig Callender holds the Tata Chancellors Chair of Philosophy at UC San Diego and is a founding faculty and co-director of the Institute for Practical Ethics. His main area of research is philosophy of science, ranging from the foundations of physics to various applied social and ethical issues. His book What Makes Time Special? won the 2018 Lakatos Award and 2022 Suppes Prize.

Contribution to SOCRATES

Craig Callender wants to spend his time at SOCRATES working on issues in science and democracy and also environmental ethics. On the former, he is especially interested in disinformation and scientific freedom; on the latter, he plans to investigate what the goals of conservation are in a world affected by climate change.
